SM Stowaway - 2012 Mongol Rally - Lotus Children's Centre ![]() ![]() ![]() In July 2012, three female Intrepid adventurers will embark upon the Mongol Rally, driving from London, UK to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Conquering the world’s roughest (and mostly non-existent) roads, eating local food and camping are some of the challenges Charlie, Pam and DJ will be dealing with. These three independent, strong women, have agreed to spend a month together, inside a small car, to travel 10,000 miles on the Mongol Rally; and as of March 2012 they have yet to meet in person! They have met via Skype and Twitter though and so far they like each other. But how will they get along during this very testing and intense adventure? Charlie, Pam and DJ are determined women who love to push boundaries. So if they are going to do an epic car rally, they are going to embark on an epic sized fundraising goal! So far the largest amount of money raised by a single team was £56,000 in 2009 by team Butch Cassidy. Charlie, Pam and DJ have decided to give that record a run for its money and raise a whopping £75,000 for the Lotus Children’s Centre! The Lotus Children’s Centre is a Mongolian non-profit, non-government organisation working with vulnerable children and families to provide the basic human rights of shelter, food and education. They care for up to 150 abused, orphaned and abandoned children at any one time. Lotus has been chosen as the official charity for the Mongol Rally 2012. At The Intrepid Foundation, we know that the Lotus Children's Centre is very well run, but can certainly benefit many more needy children with the help of Mongol Rally participants and supporters. To encourage you to help the ladies' lofty goal, Intrepid Travel will match the first AU$10,000 raised through this web-page by the SM Stowaway team. So get in quick and have your donation doubled!
