Board of Directors

Geoff Manchester

As one of the original founders of Intrepid Travel, and later The Intrepid Foundation, Geoff (Manch) remains the driving force behind our work. His continued involvement in the management of The Intrepid Foundation is fueled by his commitment to reciprocating the benefit of local travel by assisting the work of local organisations and projects. Geoff is especially proud of the connection that The Intrepid Foundation creates between our own local leaders and the projects that we support; they learn about the projects and community issues, and in turn are able to educate our travellers and inspire them to make a donation.

Darrell Wade

Darrell founded Intrepid Travel with business partner Geoff Manchester over 25 years ago. In 2002 the pair created The Intrepid Foundation as a way to give back to the communities that their business was working with. Currently CEO of Intrepid Group and a Board Director of The Intrepid Foundation, Darrell is particularly interested in encouraging travellers to connect with The Intrepid Foundation projects in ways that will help change the way they see the world.

Robyn Nixon

During her 16 years with Intrepid, Robyn has headed up International Business Development, Global Sales and Marketing, and the Commercial team. This diverse experience across the business uniquely enables Robyn to manage her current role as General Manager of People, Customer, Marketing Services and Sustainability.

Over the past 12 months Robyn has directed her focus towards providing a clear strategic direction for The Intrepid Foundation and its integration within all brands of the Intrepid Group. Robyn was appointed as a Director to The Intrepid Foundation Board in 2015.

She is passionate about empowering travellers to positively impact the communities they visit, and is key to driving goals around increasing The Foundation’s impact, reach and fundraising.

Brett Mitchell

After joining Intrepid Travel in 2008 as the Financial Controller, Brett is currently managing director of Adventure Tours Australia part of The Intrepid Group. As a Board Director of The Intrepid Foundation, Brett is committed to making a difference to the communities we visit, with a personal focus on community projects that are working to ensure the preservation of their traditional heritage and culture, and enabling their people to flourish. As an avid traveller and huge cricket fan, Brett relishes any opportunity he can to see his team play around the world.

Anthony Rodbard-Bean

Working as a Victorian Barrister, Anthony joined The Intrepid Foundation as an independent director as a way to make a difference to the communities he has visited throughout his travels. Anthony believes that education is a sure fire way to help elevate overall community prosperity, and his key area of interest in The Foundation is to promote access to education in developing countries, especially for girls and those in rural communities. Despite his successful legal career, Anthony claims that he is actually a frustrated travel writer and tour guide who makes do as a barrister.
